Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
This policy covers both the website thievesandtasers.com and the Thieves and Tasers game, operated by Arctic Palm Games ("we", "us"). We've kept it intentionally simple because our data practices are too.
The short version
- The website is a static informational page. We don't ask for your name, email, or any other personal details on the site itself.
- If you sign up to playtest our game or agree to be credited, we do collect a small amount of personal data.
- This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and what rights you have.
Information we collect
Through the website: We do not directly collect personal information from you. There is nothing on this site for you to fill in or submit.
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may automatically record standard technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) in its server logs to deliver the site and protect against abuse. This is handled under GitHub's privacy statement.
Through playtesting and credits: If you sign up for a playtest, agree to be credited, or send us feedback, we may collect:
- Email address — required to send you playtest invitations, updates, and follow-up questions.
- Name or chosen alias — optional. If you agree to be credited in the game, we will use the name, tag, or pseudonym you provide.
- Feedback and gameplay recordings — only if you voluntarily submit them (e.g., through a questionnaire or file upload).
Public contact details: For the direct outreach described below, we may also use contact information that content creators or playtesters have made publicly available.
Providing your details is voluntary. Without an email address, we cannot email you playtest invitations. You can leave out your name or alias if you do not want to be credited.
Why we collect it
- To invite you to playtests and share development updates.
- To gather feedback to improve the game.
- To contact content creators and potential playtesters using publicly available contact details.
- To credit you in the game credits under "Playtesters" or "Special Thanks" if you choose to be included.
Legal basis
Under GDPR, we rely on:
- Consent — when you provide your email and agree to be contacted for playtesting, or choose to have your name or alias included in the credits. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us at the address below.
- Legitimate interest — for internal analysis of playtest feedback to improve the game, and for direct outreach to content creators and playtesters whose public contact information we have found.
You can object to direct marketing at any time, free of charge. Email us at arcticpalmgames@gmail.com if you want promotional outreach to stop.
How we store and protect your data
We store your data securely and only allow access to team members who need it for the purposes above. We use controlled access and take reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
How long we keep your data
We will keep your personal data for a maximum of one (1) year after the full release of Thieves and Tasers, unless you ask us to delete it earlier. After that period, we will delete or anonymise your data.
If you are credited in the game, your chosen name will remain in the credits of already published versions. We can remove it from future updates or re-releases upon request, where technically feasible.
Third-party content
A few features on this site are provided by third parties. When your browser loads them, those companies may receive your IP address and set their own cookies, governed by their own privacy policies:
- Steam wishlist widget — the "Wishlist on Steam" widget is embedded from Valve's Steam store and may set cookies. (Valve Privacy Policy)
- Social links — links to our Discord, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube take you to those external platforms, each with its own privacy policy.
Children
This site and our playtests are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on the processing and the conditions set out in GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data (the "right to be forgotten").
- Restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Data portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Object — object to our processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at arcticpalmgames@gmail.com. We will respond without undue delay and normally within one month. If your request is complex or you make several requests, we may need up to two additional months; we will tell you within the first month and explain why.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, particularly in the country where you live or work, or where the issue occurred. In Sweden, this is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or game evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
